Overview

Polyurethane foam (PU foam / spray polyurethane foam, SPF) is the workhorse insulation material for cold storage, residential and commercial walls, roofing, and industrial applications. It is a two-component (A/B) system: the A-component (polyol resin blend with catalysts, surfactants, and blowing agent) reacts with the B-component (MDI isocyanate) at the spray gun and expands in seconds into a rigid or semi-rigid closed- or open-cell foam. Pioneer is unusual in that we manufacture our own A-component and distribute the four global B-component (MDI) brands, so a customer buying a JYYJ machine can take the machine and the A + B materials as one turnkey package — Western competitors (Graco / PMC / Gama) supply machines only.

Closed-cell vs open-cell foam

  • Closed-cell rigid foam (30–50 kg/m³) — high compressive strength, high R-value per inch, a built-in air and vapour barrier, and structural rigidity. The standard for cold storage, roofing, tank and pipe insulation, and exterior walls.
  • Open-cell half-pound foam (8–12 kg/m³) — lighter, lower cost per board-foot, sound-damping, and vapour-open. Used for interior walls, ceilings, and sound control where a vapour barrier is not required.

Blowing agents — All-Water and HFO (F-Gas & REACH compliant)

The blowing agent decides the foam’s environmental profile. Pioneer supplies A-component with two modern blowing-agent systems: All-Water (zero-ODP) chemistry and HFO (low-GWP) fourth-generation blowing agents that meet EU F-Gas rules and are REACH-registered. Both replace the legacy HCFC/HFC agents that are being phased out, so the foam ships and sprays without F-Gas compliance problems in regulated markets.

A-component (Pioneer) + B-component (BASF / Dow / Huntsman / Wanhua)

The A-component is Pioneer’s in-house polyol formulation, tuned for density, reactivity, and blowing agent. The B-component (MDI isocyanate) is supplied from the brand you trust — we are an authorized distributor for BASF, Dow, Huntsman, and Wanhua, the four global MDI leaders. You pick the density class and the B-brand; we match the A-component reactivity to your machine and climate.

Density, R-value, and spraying

Foam is selected by free-rise density and the job: closed-cell rigid 30–50 kg/m³ for thermal and structural duty, open-cell 8–12 kg/m³ for interior and acoustic work. Both are sprayed with a heated, high-pressure plural-component JYYJ machine that meters A and B at the correct 1:1 ratio and temperature so the foam rises to spec.

What is the difference between A-component and B-component?

The A-component is the polyol resin side — the blend of polyols, catalysts, surfactants, and blowing agent that Pioneer formulates in-house. The B-component is the MDI isocyanate side (BASF / Dow / Huntsman / Wanhua). They are sprayed at a 1:1 ratio and react at the gun to form the foam.

Closed-cell or open-cell foam — which do I need?

Choose closed-cell (30–50 kg/m³) for cold storage, roofing, exterior walls, and anywhere you need an R-value, a vapour barrier, and structural strength. Choose open-cell (8–12 kg/m³) for interior walls, ceilings, and sound damping where a vapour barrier is not required.

Are your blowing agents F-Gas and REACH compliant?

Yes. We supply All-Water (zero-ODP) and HFO (low-GWP) blowing-agent systems that meet EU F-Gas rules and are REACH-registered, replacing legacy HCFC/HFC agents. This lets the foam ship and spray in regulated markets without compliance issues.

Can I buy PU foam materials together with the spray machine?

Yes — that is our advantage. We supply the JYYJ machine and the A + B materials as one turnkey order, with the A-component reactivity matched to your machine and climate. Western machine brands (Graco / PMC / Gama) do not supply the chemicals.
