Polyurea Coating Materials
Pure and hybrid polyurea coatings for waterproofing, tank lining, and industrial flooring. Fast-cure (5-30 seconds), high elongation (>400%), chemical-resistant.
Overview
Polyurea coating is the gold standard for critical waterproofing and protection where failure is not an option. It is a two-component (A/B) spray elastomer: the A-side (isocyanate / quasi-prepolymer) reacts with the B-side (amine-terminated resin blend) at the gun and gels in 5–30 seconds, building a seamless, monolithic membrane in a single pass. Polyurea bonds to concrete, steel, and wood, bridges substrate cracks with over 400% elongation, and shrugs off abrasion and aggressive chemistry. Pioneer supplies the material and the JYYJ machine together — one turnkey order.
Pure polyurea vs hybrid polyurea
- Pure (100%) polyurea — highest performance: fastest set, best elongation and chemical resistance, and almost no sensitivity to moisture or temperature during cure. The choice for tank lining, secondary containment, and structural waterproofing.
- Hybrid polyurea — blends polyurea with polyurethane for a slightly slower gel and easier wet-out on difficult or porous substrates, at a lower cost per kilo. A practical choice for large flat areas and budget-sensitive jobs.

Why contractors choose polyurea
- Fast cure (5–30 s gel) — walk-on in minutes; a tank or deck returns to service the same shift instead of waiting days for an epoxy to cure.
- High elongation (>400%) — the membrane stretches and bridges hairline and working cracks in concrete instead of splitting.
- Seamless & monolithic — sprayed in place with no laps or seams for water or chemicals to undercut.
- Abrasion & chemical resistance — survives slurry, traffic, and aggressive process media that destroy ordinary coatings.
- Moisture / temperature tolerant — pure polyurea cures consistently in cold or humid conditions where other systems fail.
Aromatic vs aliphatic
Standard aromatic polyurea delivers the full mechanical performance at the best price and is used wherever colour stability is not critical (tank interiors, containment, below-grade waterproofing). Aliphatic polyurea (or an aliphatic topcoat) adds long-term UV colour stability for exposed, decorative, or sun-facing surfaces such as parking decks and architectural finishes.
Substrates, primers, and potable water
Polyurea bonds to concrete, steel, wood, and geotextile with the correct surface prep and primer; on concrete a moisture-tolerant primer is used, and on steel a near-white blast. For drinking-water tanks and reservoirs, an NSF/ANSI 61 potable-water grade is available on request.
Frequently asked questions
Pure or hybrid polyurea — which should I buy?
Choose pure (100%) polyurea for tank lining, secondary containment, and critical waterproofing where you need the fastest set, highest elongation, and best chemical resistance. Choose hybrid polyurea for large flat areas, easier wet-out on porous substrates, and a lower material cost.
Why does polyurea need a heated, high-pressure machine?
Polyurea gels in seconds at a 1:1 ratio, so it must be heated to roughly 60–70°C and sprayed at high pressure (25–36 MPa) to atomise and mix the two components before they react. Low-pressure or unheated kits cannot mix it — you get soft spots and poor adhesion. A heated plural-component JYYJ machine is required.
Is polyurea safe for potable (drinking) water tanks?
Yes, with the right grade. We supply an NSF/ANSI 61 potable-water polyurea on request for drinking-water tanks, cisterns, and reservoirs. Standard aromatic polyurea is used for non-potable and industrial tanks.
Can I buy polyurea material together with the spray machine?
Yes. We supply pure and hybrid polyurea (A + B) together with the JYYJ machine as one turnkey package, matched to your application and substrate. Western machine brands (Graco / PMC / Gama) supply machines only.
